mouthguards are good to prevent grinding while sleeping. the dentist can custom fit one for your mom. also, chiropractors help a lot too – they specialize in joints and muscles. i haven’t had any tmj pain in years.
anyone that has tmj needs to have xrays
get a dr. that specializes in tmj, they can also make a (soft) mouth guard that can be worn at night and during day
apply heat to jaw, jaw joint, ear and neck
take Advil (or like) 4-6 hrs as needed
do not chew any hard foods including gum. do not get braces, they do not help tmj (only makes worse) no teeth grinding down or pulling teeth any dr’s that want to do any of this, find another dr.
good luck
do NOT chew gum, take an anti-inflammatory, like ibuprofen or naproxyn sodium, and get a bite guard to wear at night so you don’t grind your teeth.
Anti-inflammatories, such as ibuprofen every 4-6 hours for several days. Nightguard, you can get one from the store, but a professional made one is better.
