I have dysautonomia (dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system) and mitral valve prolapse. It causes tons of symptoms and problems such as TMJ, muscle spasms, nausea, heart palpitations, anxiety, depression, fatigue, easy exhaustion, etc. Im on a good medication regime to control all the symptoms, because theres no cure for the disorder.
However, Im getting married next year, and we want to start a family within a couple years. I know this question is a little early, and i know i should ask my doctor for clearer answers when the time comes, but for some reason lately Ive been thinking a lot about it.
So back to my original question; are my meds harmful for a fetus? And if so, is it possible to go on alternate medication thats safer? I dont think my doctor would be able to let me go altogether without medication. My meds are klonapin, wellbutrin, zoloft and zebeta. Thanks!!

Those are all pregnancy category C, save for the klonopin (note spelling), which is D. Search for “(drug name) pregnancy category” to find out about any others.
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pregnancy_c…
“Pregnancy Category C — Animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the foetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.”
If you’re taking the klonopin solely for anxiety — look into the SSRIs (usually category C) that’re supposed to help with anxiety, or Buspar (B). Sleep? Ambien is B. If for physical reasons — there are muscle relaxants that are C, at least.
It’s not ideal, but, to put it in perspective, most asthma medications are category C, and no doctor in his right mind would ever tell a pregnant woman to quit using her inhaler.
ofcourse they are. even advil is bad for pregnancy. you should take this up with your DR.
you should talk to ur OB/GYN they can tell u if they are or not. Also they may be able to find something else if they are that might not be. But I’ld suggest doing so before you try to concieve… cuz some meds stay in ur system for a while after you stop taking them.
