TMJ and Mouth Guards?
Monday, March 8th, 2010I have just recently been diagnosed with TMJ. No nausea or light headedness, just some cracking, popping and occasional pain. My doctor mentioned that it may be caused by night time teeth grinding (which i have been told by my dentist that i do) and i might want to look into getting a night guard mouthpiece. But when i opened the box, it said it was not recommended with people who have TMJ. But doesnt explain why. I want to stop the nighttime grinding, but i dont want to make my TMJ worse.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
(He just prescribed me an NSAID (Naproxen), some muscle exercises and recommened i use ice packs which i have been)
