THANK YOU, DR. PHELAN! I got TMJD on 12-18-09 immediately after I ate nuts. I had no TMJD before that and I am in my late 50s. Every dental professional, even a prosthodontist, has refused to work with my bite even though that is listed on many dental literature as a treatment. They must only think TMJD is caused by disc, musculature, capsule, or retrodiscal tissue basis instead of occlusal. They don’t know how to diagnose TMJD! Help!!!

Doctors love rambling about the names of the joint, name of the muscles, etc but once you ask them for a solution they say take advil and put heat on it. These guys are completely useless and just rip people off.

Hello. Is it possible for my disc to ever go back in place? It clicks every time I open my mouth a little, and got that way from my joint popping so bad that it felt like it exploded or something. I’d hate for it to click forever like that.
